U15 Major Boys Broadford 3 Leixlip United 1.
We started brightly with Max Farnan shooting just over and Daniel Bradley just wide and Dany Pop causing trouble on the left and having two shots blocked inside the box but as we do we didn’t take advantage and Broadford are a good footballing side and when they got a foothold they played through us. We failed to clear a second ball from a corner and left a man unmarked 6 yards out 1-0. The second goal was a killer on stroke of halftime they got the call and their striker hits post and ball rebounds to him and he took 3 touches before finishing. Aaron Power cracked the bar from a free kick and finally after a cracking save from their keeper from our corner we scored with Aaron Power heading home after a great Harry Habington cross. Our tails were up and Max Farnan set up Nathan Byrne with a great run and pullback but his shot was saved. We had them pinned in and rattled now but as we do we give them a soft free in their left back area and one launched ball is missed by two defenders and their winger just ghosts in front of our full back to score 3-1 game over.
U15.1 Boys Leixlip United 1 Ballyouster 1.
Not a lot chances first 10 minutes Ballyouster had more of the ball however we started to play the ball more in their half. A break came 10 minutes before half time with a lovely run into box by Brendan Carolan who was fouled. Aidan McConville tucked the penalty away giving keeper no chance. Start of second half we again created more chances and should have gone 2-0 up again brilliant run again by Brendan Carolan through their midfield who then got shot off and hit crossbar from 20 yards out. Luke Schuster also went close soon after in the box only for last ditch block after getting shot off. 10 minutes remaining we conceded after their midfielder ran half of the pitch with no one putting in tackle and finished in bottom left corner. Ballyouster tails were up but we stood firm and game ended stalemate.
U16 Premier Boys Leixlip United 2 Home Farm 1.
It was a really important win for the lads against a very combative team. We started really well, and after a few close efforts, we went ahead from a well worked goal from Jamie Flood. We continued to press, and another great move was finished off by Jamie Flood again. We should have added to our total, but shortly after half time, we failed to clear a corner properly, and a shot from distance was deflected into the net. We really dug in after that setback and managed to see the game out to take the points.
U17 Major Girls Leixlip United 3 Larkview 1.
A special win with all 17 of our players playing a meaningful part. Not easy to fit everyone in but it meant we really outworked Larkview in the sun. The opener came when Lucy Morris battled hard, found Cara Moriarty who passed to Faye Kelly and with lots left to do she drove and scored with a lovely strike. We had lots of possession and pressure but took a while to score again. That goal came with Molly Crehan working from the left, finding Cara who crossed and Sophie Dalton had a lovely finish in the six yard box. It could have been more Faye drew a great save, Grace Kelly fizzed it across the goal but Molly had a goal line clearance too before the break. Emma Murphy was excellent throughout and ended the contest after half time by smashing a goal from outside the box. Larkview’s goal was a late enough penalty. Delighted with 2 pretty different line ups for each half but on top throughout.
