Girls U13 D3/4 Cup Leixlip 3 Firhouse 0 (Photo above)
Great cup tie under the lights played in great spirit by both teams.
First half goal by Aine Byrne Beades put us in front at half time.
Second half goals from Chloe Dolan and Saoirse Costelloe sealed the victory.
Great battling performances from every player in the squad to go into the next round.
U14 Major1 Leixlip 2 Lucan 5
Lucan are well ahead at the top of the league & it showed. They scored 3 quite quickly in the first half.
In fairness to our lads they kept playing and scored just before the break. Senan Moriarty was taken down in the box and Aidan McConville dispatched the peno smoothly.
Having had to defend a lot, Lucan then scored as the ball hit the post and unfortunately then went in off our diving keeper’s back. We scored a second when Zach Fitzpatrick’s deep free was controlled by Senan Moriarty and poked home. In the final minute Lucan scored another fine goal.
Thanks to Alill from the u13s for filling in and putting an impressive performance that was widely admired
Boys U13 Sun Div 7 Shankill 1 - 2 Leixlip Utd
Great win for lads today, the first one in a while. Their hard work is finally paying off, building on a strong performance in their last game. We went 1-0 up before half time with Josh Tyrell breaking through and putting the ball into an empty net. Shankill pulled one back just after the break. We went on the attack and Conor Walsh got our second with a lovely finish. Shankill came back at us but we held strong and saw out the game. All 14 players in today's squad put a shift in and were all very happy when the final whistle went. Roll on next week.
16a Leixlip 0 Malahide 4
We definitely feel like we owe Malahide after this and will look forward to the rematch. They had an early scrambled goal and then it was mostly our girls for a good while. We got nothing from a series of well created chances and right before the break they scored after a weird up and under.
After the break we piled on all the pressure but got nothing and their 3rd killed the game and they added a 4th later. Lots of effort for zero joy so we look to the next game.
U13 Girls Div 1 Leixlip 3 - 0 Ardmore
Another good win for the girls this morning, in a game that took a while to get going. Great quality on show and we were rewarded in the first half with an opening goal from Annabelle Carty who followed in a great Cara Murphy shot, controlled it well and blasted it into the bottom corner.
The second half saw much of the ball controlled by Leixlip and we got another two well deserved goals from Laoise Boyce who's pace will cause nightmares for the Ardmore defence tonight!
Another clean sheet for our goalie Jules Nunan, who along with her defence, are really starting to work well together as a block.
MGL u18s Leixlip United 2 Lusk 0
Really good win for the girls against a decent Lusk team who held their own. We opened the scoring after 15 minutes with Irina Canizares threading a nice ball through for Katie Allen to score neatly into the bottom corner. We had plenty of possession and chances in the first half but couldn't get a second goal. Into the second half and it was a more even match as Lusk had the wind at their back. But we played some neat football and with their keeper sweeping up, Emily Lynch played a nice pass to Irina who spotted the keeper off her line and dinked it over for 2-0, a brilliant finish.
It was tight enough after that, with chances at both ends and our defenders and Alison O'Connor in goals worked really hard for a well earned clean sheet and win
U16s B Leixlip 2 - 2 Swords Celtic
Lads battled really well today to get a draw after going 2 nil down within 15 minutes after starting very poorly. James Gaynor pulled one back before half time after dribbling past a couple of defenders and finishing from the edge of the box. Lads were a different team in the second half and totally dominated the game. The equaliser finally came in the last couple of minutes after Tadhg O'Meara headed in a Nathan Elliott corner. Lads could have won the game but a Daragh Looney goal was ruled offside. (Special thanks to the fixtures secretary for fitting us in with a late KO today as I know there were a lot of fixtures to try and schedule).
